TASK: Devote yourself to a creative project & use the number 108 as inspiration

Is Your Creativity Sad?
Are all your ideas just stuck in your head? Instead of touching your fingertips to pens, brushes, keys, wool, clay or whatever medium that calls to you, you just hear a chorus of “No.”
It repeats in your mind. No time. No energy. No skills. No supplies. No space. No courage to make the mistakes that go along with any creative endeavor. It goes on and on till the song makes you sad.
This mandala’s intention is to act as a catalyst to reawaken your creativity.
The task is to complete any creative project and use the number 108 as inspiration. It could be as simple as setting aside 108 times to work on a piece or maybe use 108 of something as material for your project. Those are just ideas…it’s really about silencing the chorus of “No” and letting yourself hear your own creative song.
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou
As a bit of inspiration… I want to share with you a piece Erin made, mixing her creativity with the experience of developing her home yoga practice. She filled it with unique symbols and representations of the elements. It became a meaningful mosaic and is now part of her yoga space.
I’ve found many similarities between practicing yoga and practicing creativity. On the physical level they both fine tune the muscles of the body. Finding just the right pressure in holding a brush could be called brushstrokasana. Keeping your attention in meditation or following the flow of needle and thread both clear the mind. Deeper than that, both tap into a current of energy, that reveals your authentic creative song. A song that makes your heart happy and the one the world needs to hear.
